Director Jacques Osinski takes on Lenz, an unfinished and fragmentary work by the German writer Georg Büchner (1813-1837), to tell the story of this “unfortunate poet who went mad”. Featuring actor Johan Leysen, this portrayal of the tormented period of Lenz’s life oscillates between a compassionate narrative, cleaving close to the hallucinatory perceptions of the poet, and a clinical journal.
