Alone in his hotel room, a man becomes desperate when he realises he has lost his family holiday photos: he has lost the proof that he really lived those moments of emotion he wanted to capture. Suddenly a group of complete strangers appears: they help him recreate the lost images, which are projected onto a big screen in real time. Starting out as a parody of farce, My Wife Got Angry and deleted all our holiday photos changes genre mid-performance: Ene-Liis Semper’s and Tiit Ojasoo’s virtuoso staging abandons the codes of theatre and becomes an essay on photography and a parable of our relationship to images. “Photography is our exorcism. Primitive society had its masks, bourgeois society its mirrors; we have our images”, wrote Jean Baudrillard. There is a distance between the photograph and the elusive reality we are constantly trying to capture: this play gives form to that gap, and tries to halt the vertigo of being lost in the rush of passing time.
